M.B.A. is an acronym standing for Midway Baseball Association

Midway was founded in 1971 by five fathers whose sons had no place to play baseball.  At that time Westlawn Little League was the only neighborhood league in the community.  West Lawn decided not to expand their league to accommodate the growing demand so the five dads went to the West Lawn Park supervisor, Bob Adamick, and asked if they could use the park's diamonds to start their own baseball league.  Bob said yes and Midway Baseball Association of West Lawn Park was born.

Needing a field of their own Midway approached Michael Madigan of the 13th Ward about turning a vacant prairie at 67th & Kilpatrick into baseball diamonds.  Through many hours of volunteer work and donations, Midway grew to have five diamonds and a concession stand.

The park was named Madigan Field in honor of Mike Madigan's father.

Today, Midway continues their founding tradition of providing a place for all kids to play baseball and softball.  We offer a sponsorship program where kids can play at little or no cost to their families.

The five founding fathers of Midway are the following;

Lester Savage

Mickey Canavan

Ed Mahay

Fred Luvich

John Pulaski
